Analyzing the Monumental Suck of the BSG Finale (SPOILERS WARNING)

God sez be nice to teh robotz. k thx bai (Fair warning, this post not only contains BSG spoilers, but spoilers for The Matrix and Hyperion Cantos as well). For the last several years I have been telling anyone who would listen to watch Battlestar Galactica, that it was the "best show ever on tv, SF or not." Now, I have to say "it's the best show ever on tv, right up until the stupid, horrible, retarded ending."

The Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath (in Hell), Apparently

Via Slog, the Edmonton Sun reports that the Westborough Baptist Church, Fred Phelp's group, will be protesting the funeral of the young man recently decapitated by a fellow Greyhound bus passenger.
Said the crazy chick whackjob "'We're trying to get you to see that your rebellion against the standards of God, your disobedience to the commandments - your idols, your false gods, your filthy ways have brought wrath upon your head,' she said."
OMG! Pwned! You can't suffer eternal wrath upon your head when it's already been lopped off! So there!
And just because we need to keep score of such things:

Obama and the faith-based initiatives

It's already gotten a lot of attention, but Obama's announcement about continuing the Bush administration's faith-based initiatives with some changes and better organization is still worth noting as bothersome. I don't have any problem with churches/temples/whatevers helping people. But the fact that these groups can't seem to be able to found secular non-profits and then donate money to them (and staff them if they want) to carry out neighborhood charity work immediately exposes their intent to proselytize. And few things will annoy me more than proselytizing, one of which is government funded proselytizing. I'll give the Obama campaign some points for the fact that at least their approach appears to be far better organized. But it's still unconstitutional. We should be undoing the Bush administration programs, not making them work better.
